This is a set of antique Civil War era Confederate style tooled leather saddle bags with Y type straps. The leather is still pretty supple and with a nice original patina. Amazingly both of the straps are still intact but one of the buckles is missing. There is an old repair and a tear shown in the photographs. These are large bags measuring about 45" long overall and each bag is about 16" x 14" in size. You can see a similar set of saddle bags on the cover of the book "Confederate Saddles & Horse Equipment" by Ken Knopp of which we have included a photograph.
