This antique fireman helmet with the high eagle leather front was from the Valatie,New York Fire Department.It has some New York history behind it as it belonged to Harry Smith who was the founder of the Valatie Rescue Squad in 1933 and a former mayor.The helmet which was made by Cairns is metal and has the liner.As you can see by the leather shield it has seen some fire heat which only adds to its appeal and would be a great addition to a fire related or New York collection.
